Momisms: Things your mom always says

Can you remember some of the things that your mother always said to you when you were a child? (Maybe she STILL says them to you!) It's amazing how mothers all over the world say the same things to their children!

Would you like to translate some of the following ones? Which of them is used by your mom? I think it may be a very fun activity!! Thanks.

1. You won't be happy until you break that, will you? (Irene H. 1ºBach.D)
2. When I was your age, I had to walk ten miles through the snow, uphill, by myself, to go to school.
3. What do you think, money grows on trees? "¿Qué te crees que el dinero sale de los árboles?" (Tamara, 1ºBach. C)
4. Is your homework finished? Has terminado los deberes? (Irene H., 1ºBach.D)
5. I'm not your maid! "Yo no soy tu criada" (Sue, 1ºBach.C)
6. Don't talk with your mouth full!
7. Going to a party? Who's going to be there? "¿Vas a una fiesta; quién va a ir? (Sue,1ºBach.C)
8. Do you think this is a hotel? You can't just come here only to sleep. "Qué te crees que esto es una pensión? No puedes venir aquí sólo a dormir." (Gema, teacher)
9. Did you flush?
10. Always wear clean underwear in case you get in an accident. "Ponte ropa interior limpia no sea que tengas un accidente o te pase algo" (Susana, teacher)
11. Are you going out dressed like that? "¿Vas a ir vestida así?" (Lucía, 1ºBach.D)
12. Am I talking to a brick wall? "¿Estoy hablando con la pared?" (Tami,1ºBach.C)
13. As long as you live under my roof, you'll do as I say.
14. Don't make me get up!
15. Don't ask me WHY. The answer is NO.
"No me preguntes por qué.La respuesta es no." (Lucía, 1ºBach.D)

HAHAHA!!! SUSIII I LOVE THIS POST!!!!!!! REALLY!!!
CONGRATULATIONS!

It´s true that every mothers tell us all of this things!!

I´m going to translate some things:

¨Am I talking to a brick wall?¨
¨¿Estoy hablando con la pared?¨

This isn´t the literal transalation, but my mother tell me this:
¨No, siii...como si estuviera hablando con la pared...¨

¨What do you think, money grows on trees?¨

My father, tell me something that have the same meaning:

¨What do you think, I am Onasis?¨
¨¿Qué te crees que yo soy Onasis?¨

This post is really funny my dear Susana!!

All of my kisses!!!!!!!!!!!

HAHAHAHA!!

My mother always says the same...

Well, let's translate:

5. I'm not your maid!
"No soy tu criada"
(yes, I'm really lazy...I never tidy the house)
________________

6. Going to a party? Who's going to be there?
"¿Ir a una fiesta? ¿quién va a estar allí?"

______________

The last momism has been repeated so many times by my mother...
And when she asks it, I always answer the same:
"Mummy, I go with everybody"
and she says "WHO EVERYBODY IS??
So, If I wanna go out, I have to say the name (one by one) of all the people I go with.

IT'S TRUE!!! EVERY MUM SAYS THE SAME EVERYWHERE!! HAHAHA!!

I'm going to highlight one of them:

"Do you think this is a hotel? You can't just come here only to sleep"
"¿Qué te crees, que esto es una pensión? (my mother never used "hotel"). NO puedes venir aki solo a dormir!!!"

The problem is that my mother didn't say it when I was a child or a teeneager. She used to say it when I was twenty-something... it was one of the reasons why I left home.

A really good post, Susi!!
KISSES FOR YOU AND ALL THE BLOGGERS!!

hahahaha i love this post

and here comes my favourite phrase:

8. Do you think this is a hotel? You can't just come here only to sleep.

¿que te piensas que esto es un hotel? que solo vienes a casa para dormir (que te laven la ropa y comer) (these is what my mun adds)

my mother says it several times in a day and most of these times i`m trying to sleep in my bed XD

11. Are you going out dressed like that?

¿vas a ir vestida asi?

these is dedicated to my friends because they sometimes ask me how i can go outside with some of my dresses but for my its OK (i´m a little bitch) hahaha

15. Don't ask me WHY. The answer is NO.

my parents don´t want to waste time explaining me why so now they just say NO .......and i must shut up ......:(

It's great everybody likes this post!!Even my nephew has used one of them in the messenger...

When I saw it, I didn't hesitate to post it...I knew all of us were going to die from laughter!!
My favourite,or rather, my mum's favourite is:

"Always wear clean underwear in case you get in an accident".

Ponte ropa interior limpia, por si acaso te pasa algo, and later she explained...si te mareas o tienes un accidente y te tienen que llevar al hospital que estés limpia...

When I go out, the last thing I think about is that I'm going to get in an accident!!

My mum is atomic, isn't it?...Sorry,our mums are atomic!!!

Hi!

A sentence I have to hear several times a day, is this:

"How do you know you don't like it if you haven't tasted it?"

-"¿cómo sabes que no te gusta si no lo has probado?"

Although my uncle usually says:
"eso es que lo has probado poco..."

However, the more I try peppers, the less I like them!
